New York Life
Idaho General Office

Serving the Gem State for over 145 years

New York Life has a long history of helping the citizens of Idaho. Our first death claim was paid in 1865 on a 34 year old Secretary of the Territory. He purchased $4,000 of life insurance in August 1864 and died the following year.

The hazardous life in the Territory was reflected in the Company's records of early claims on Idaho policy owners. Nearly thirty percent died violently, many from gunshot wounds and accidents. Among them was a mine superintendent in Bellevue who insured his life for $1,500 in 1881. The death benefit was paid to his widow when he was 'murdered by a maniac' in 1890.

The first branch office established in Idaho was in Boise on January 1, 1895. By staying true to the principles of prudent expansion, conservative growth, full service, and, above all, a strong field force, New York Life will maintain and enhance its reputation as "The Company You Keep®."
